Day four…time is flying by fast down here. I honestly wish I could live here forever. Florida has always been the State I would move to if I ever decided to move in life. You know what I really haven’t thought about? Cancer. I know this trip was meant for me to relax and take my mind off of not being able to work but really, during all the downtime and relaxation I’ve had, I haven’t thought about having cancer. The appointment reminders will start rolling in tomorrow again for next week’s treatment but I honestly can say that this week has been going so well, it’s probably the least amount I’ve thought about the fact that I have terminal cancer since I was told about it. So thank you again, everyone. I mean it from the bottom of my heart. I can never repay the generosity the community has, and continues to show me. In other life news, I was told by the County today that I’ve hit the max amount of donated sick time that I can use, per their policy. From here on out, every day I take off sick is no longer paid. I am praying the income continuation insurance will kick in to help me, however, even on that, I’ll still be paid less. It sucks because I have to work for the health insurance but moreover, I actually WANT to work. It sucks that every other week, I can’t. Life is unfair sometimes. Rant over….back to Day 4:

We woke up around the usual 0900ish and it was rough getting up. After all of the walking yesterday at the mall, I’m embarrassed to say I needed some ibuprofen for the back. Unfortunately, I forgot to pack some so I ran to the local gas station to get some. All they had was the PM version so I went with that. Boy, was that a mistake! I passed out 45 minutes after taking them and slept HARD. Probably the first time I’ve gotten a full night’s sleep since I had the surgery and getting the colostomy bags. With the colostomy bags, I have to set an alarm for every two hours to wake up to make sure they’re not full. Thankfully, nature cooperated with me last night and I didn’t have any bag malfunctions due to me sleeping the night away. Probably too much info for all of you, but it’s one of the facts of cancer life I live. When I did get up, I immediately I thought, “Uber Eats went so well last night, let’s get breakfast this way this morning!”. Between driving somewhere, sitting down, waiting for the food to come, and then driving back in traffic…I truly believe Uber Eats is quicker and soooo much more convenient! They bring the food to my door!!! It reminds me a lot of Denelies delivering to my house in Shell Lake (which happens more than I’d like to admit)! We decided on IHOP this morning. Although I have a personal rule of no fast food and don’t go back to the same place to eat while on vacation, the only exception I make to this rule is breakfast. I could eat IHOP every single morning and never get bored of it! Almost as quick as we ordered, it shows up at our doorstep and we went to town on it! I got my favorite, funfetti cupcake pancakes 🤤. In addition, I got the usual scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, and a side order of hash browns. Ky also got some pancakes and bacon…and we both got Dunkin’ Donuts coffee since it was a free add-on stop from the Uber.

By the time both Kyley and I got ready for the day (and we move slowly because, well, vacation) we immediately hit the pool! Yesterday, amongst the clothes I bought, I got a new swim shirt and I love it so much I made Kyley take a picture of me wearing it! Today’s forecast in Orlando has called for pretty much a ZERO percent chance of rain and it held true by being sunny all day long. We spent a long time down there and halfway through, I got some food and drinks from the onsite restaurant. We probably spent four hours outside in the pool and regrettably, I failed at sunscreen today. I put it on most places but because of my short, STYLISH hair cut (brought to you by the fabulous Kim Cook at His and Hers Hair in Barron), I burned inside the hair line pretty good! I’m sure it’ll start hurting tomorrow when I shower. Ky faired a little worse by getting a little red on her shoulders. I guess this is a small price to pay for living luxuriously in Florida for a week! It’s also so hot down here that my key card melted a little bit by sitting out in the sun by accident. Thankfully, although bent and a little shorter, it still works 😅.

After the pool, we came back to the room and watched some TV while Ky took an afternoon nap. We both love our afternoon naps but after getting a full night of sleep for a change, I couldn’t fall asleep for today’s nap session. After a short nap, we headed to Kissimmee to the 5.11 store. I finally got the coveted Florida patch from their store to add to my collection…along with a few more clothes from their 50% off summer sale. We then went to BJ’s. Ky had a nice chicken, mash potatoes, asparagus meal and I had some Italian chicken dinner with spaghetti. It was really good! From there, we headed over to Andretti Indoor Go Karts and Arcade. We had…an ABSOLUTE BLAST there. We started out with indoor racing and the track + cars are amazingly fast! Probably the fastest go karts I’ve ever been on. The track spans two stories and requires helmets along with a valid driver’s license. The track goes for 6-8 laps and measures your best time. Kyley narrowly beat me by 0.401 seconds. I blame the two people in front of me not letting me pass for most of the track. It was seriously so much fun…I’d highly recommend it to anyone who ever comes down here. After racing, we played arcade games until midnight. Kyley found a quarter game where you have to push the quarters over the edge. There was a stack of quarters totalling $6 teetering on the edge so she played the heck out of that game…and pushed them over the edge to win a stuffed animal!! It was a really fun night and we might go back there tomorrow night for a rematch on the race track. As for us, it’s 00:23 and time to head to bed. We got a couple of ideas for tomorrow night but it sounds like it may be another pool day before then 😉
